i have already purchased the 8 piece starter set, and other bits, through Skyonecnc, that your partner says I need to purchase through him to get the feed and speed chart for these bits. I feel these should be available for your customer’s to download free.

Hi Brian, thanks for bringing this to our intention. Which one our partners stated that? We agree that the feeds and speeds should be available, free of charge, to our customers. We supply a feeds and speeds sheet with every starter set purchased. Our partners are given the same information to pass along to each customer who purchases a starter set. We do not charge for information. We have our web-developer working on making it available by download, directly off of our website. I’ve included a text version of it below.
If need be, I can send you an Excel sheet of it via email as well.

      Thanks much!
      Jim

        Heh Jim,

Getting ready to use the 1/8 compression bit. Would you have a feeds and speeds chart/excel sheet I could have as a reference?

        Thanks much,

        Lou Neuder

          Hi Louis,
I don’t have a chart for that specific bit.
          I’d recommend to start with:
          Feed: 80 ipm
          Plunge rate: 40
          Depth per pass: .100″
          Stepover: .050″
          RPM (Speed) 12-14k
Test on some scrap first and if you’re confident in your machine, you can up the feed rate quite a bit, if you feel it is necessary.
That bit can be worked hard, but be safe and smart as to how hard you push it.

I can email you a chart of our most common bits, if you’d like too.

          Thanks Jim

Thank you Jim, I purchased your starter set, but did not receive the sheet.. I also purchased a few other bits{some for plastics, and some for aluminum} Do you have the speeds and feeds on all your bits. The partner I referring to was the one on the video that came up on your websites information button. He states that if his viewers purchase the starter set through him he would provide the sheet. Sorry, maybe I took it the wrong way, because I had already purchased it direct from Skyone and did not receive it. Anyway I appreciate your response, I would love the Excel sheet. My email is bguillory66@live.com
    Thank again,
    Brian

    Hi!

Any ETA on when the f/s charts will be available for download? I purchased a starter set and I DID receive a chart for pine. I was looking for specifications for hardwoods. I can guesstimate but wanted to get the settings directly from the experts.

We don’t have a specific chart for hardwoods yet, but when we put it together, it will have a feed rate of 10% less than the softwoods, such as pine.
The other settings would remain the same.

Yes, but we don’t have an ETA for when it’ll be available. In the meantime, I could send you an Excel sheet, if that would help you?

        Jim,
Would you mind sending me the feeds and speeds chart as well (semperfi77usmc@gmail.com)? I have the beginner set and have no idea what I’m doing as far as correct settings putting them into Vcarve. I read the above listed comment that listed a bunch of numbers for soft wood but I’m not sure what they all mean or where to plug them in……I’m a beginner and any help is appreciated.

An email was sent to you with the following:
I would start with the same feeds and speeds as a 1/4″ Downcut and adjust to your liking.
I’ve attached an Excel document with our feeds and speeds for our most popular bits.  Keep in mind that these numbers are very conservative, as they are for those who are just starting out.  No feeds/speeds recommendations are ‘written in stone’.  Many variables can affect your cut quality.  Best practice is to test on a piece of scrap before carving the final piece.

Any chance on getting the spreadsheet with the bit info? I’m new at this so I could use all the help I can get to put the info into Vectric Vcarve Pro. I just purchased some !/32nd down cut endmills to go with the bits I previously purchased and I’m trying to figure out what’s the best settings to use. Thanks

Happy New Year. I purchased several of your (W-9-LC) 1/4″ Upcut Long Cut 4 Flute Bits. Since this bit was not specifically noted on your Feeds and Speeds charts, I had been using the values for the 1/4″ downcut. By the end of my project the bit was blue so suspecting it ran too hot. Before I assume it ws my wood, DOC what are your specific recommendations for this bit. Fortunately, I have a two spare bits and want to make sure they have a long productive life…..
    Best Regards,
    Volker

      Good Evening Volker,
Here’s the recommended starting settings for the W-9-LC:
      Feed: 75
      Depth per pass: .125″
      RPMs (Speed): 12-14k
      Stepover: .100″
      Plunge: 30
With that said…Settings for bits are just a recommended starting point. Many variables need to be figured in to get optimal performance, such as type of wood, moisture content of the wood, local environment (humidity/dryness/temp) as well as sturdiness of your machine. To get the optimal settings, test the bit on some scrap and adjust your settings as you see fit. As you have noted, the bit is blue, which indicates it’s been under quite a bit of heat. This is typically caused by a too slow a feed rate, too high of the RPMs or both. Hope this information helps!
      Thanks again!
      Jim
